🇵🇱🇭🇺 Certainly not unexpected, though… Poland and Hungary have decided to ban imports of grain and other food from Ukraine to protect the local agricultural sector since a flood of supply depressed prices across the regions – the decision came after a letter sent to the EU (learn more about its content here).

     • Ukraine regrets the decision, says the Polish ban contradicted existing bilateral agreements on exports, and has called for talks to settle the issue.

     • Hungary didn’t give details on when its ban would go into effect. 

     • Both countries say they remain allies of Ukraine’s, but that they must first contemplate the needs of their own people – and the struggle of their own ag sectors. For more details, read this.
