Put into practice ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿงซ๐Ÿ”ฌ While the antimicrobial properties of fatty acids have been known since the late 1800’s, their implementation into feed applications is something of the present! Indeed, with the increasing concerns over antibiotic resistant bacteria and legislation restricting the use of antibiotics, the knowledge about functional lipids is (finally) being put into practice.

๐Ÿ”Ž Speaking of which, do you know what the beneficial properties of medium chain functional lipids are? They have broad antimicrobial activities, both against gram positive and negative bacteria, and low environmental impact; work with other antimicrobial feed additives; and show strong antimicrobial effects at lower pH (in the case of medium-chain fatty acids), antimicrobial and antiviral effect independent of pH (in the case of medium-chain monoglycerides), and non-corrosive (in the case of both medium-chain monoglycerides and medium-chain triglycerides).
