🤔 Question of the hour: how can farmers stay within the ammonia emission limits established by the EU without spending rivers of money? A study by the University of Bonn, Germany, has the answer: it’s designed a retrofit solution for existing barn systems that does the trick! 

    • The retrofit allows the acidification of the excrements, which prevents ammonia from escaping in gaseous form. This is performed in a special agitation tank outside the slurry channels and then, the resulting products are pumped back into the barn. The solution not only reduces the risks of the process, but ammonia emissions as well – by 40% (!)

💸♻️ While the retrofit doesn’t come for free (what does?), it’s comparatively far cheaper than the alternatives, with additional benefits for farmers and the environment. Click here for more details on the study!
