The conclusion: farmers must make sure they don’t feed their herds catering or domestic food waste – yes, this includes vegetarian and vegan food too. These are the latest guidance that UK pig producers have been urged to follow.

     • The bottom line is that animals can only be fed formulated commercial pig feeds, but absolutely no fruit and vegetables that have ever entered a domestic or commercial kitchen, and definitely no products of animal origin whatsoever.
