No crystal ball, but… 🔮

swine o'clock Oct 18, 2022

Up it goes! At least, that’s the expectation: global pork production is forecast to rise 1% in 2023.

Want to check out more predictions? Well, we may not have a crystal ball, but we have the USDA. So here’s what you should look forward to:

  • Production in China is expected to grow 2% as it recovers from the impacts of African swine fever (ASF).

  • The US, Brazil, and Mexico should also expand their production and offset the declines by other major producers, such as the EU and the UK

  • Speaking of which... Rising feed and energy costs, and environmental restrictions will dampen EU pork production, and weaker demand for domestic pork will hinder production in the UK

Production in Vietnam continues to rebound as the management of ASF has successfully protected the sector from large-scale outbreaks.
