๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿฆ  The French have recently announced that a vaccine to combat African Swine Fever (ASF) could be underway – we explained some details about the study here. The latest good news is that large-scale production may soon be possible: the attenuated strain of the virus, used in the vaccine, has been successfully multiplied in vitro, eliminating the need to use cells taken from pigs.

     • As an added bonus, the strain of virus produced this way caused fewer symptoms without losing its effectiveness. However, it’s still necessary to ensure that this attenuated strain cannot be transmitted from one animal to another or become virulent again

๐Ÿคž For now, let’s keep our fingers crossed for its performance, as well as our eyes wide open for upcoming developments. Read more about the research here.
