Just for show? ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿท๐Ÿ›ก๏ธThe pigs? Maybe. But biosecurity? Never! As the summer season ramps up and prevention against African Swine Fever (ASF) gets more critical by the day, biosecurity should be top of mind for those who show animals – especially if we're talking about pigs. Since University of Missouri Extension specialists are urging people to pay close attention to the measures, here go a few tips (find more of those and further info on biosecurity here):

  • Wear clothes dedicated solely to the animal fairs to avoid bringing the same garments home;
  • Isolate pigs after the fair, so the animals returning to the farm spend at least two weeks apart from the herd;
  • Bring only your pigs home, nothing unnecessary – like food or manure, for example;
  • Wash your truck when you get back.
