Two Micronesian individuals have pleaded guilty to charges of human trafficking and forced labor, and now they’re awaiting their sentence.

  • The defendants have lured two fellow Micronesians into the US by paying for their passports and tickets and with the promise of work, but then took the victims’ key documents and almost all of their earnings were taken under the justification of immigration expenses.
  • The victims were employed at a JBS meat processing plant in Ottumwa, but neither of the defendants worked for JBS.

⛓ Their sentences are scheduled to come out in February, and they face up to five years in prison. Their attorneys were either not located or declined to comment on the matter.
