๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ The US National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) is still reviewing the rule change to the "Product of the USA" label proposed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Under the new rule, this label will be only for meat from animals born, raised, slaughtered, and processed in the US (as we explained here).

๐Ÿง Here are some concerns regarding the proposed new rule: it’s important that it doesn’t violate international obligations by putting international products at a disadvantage, thus mining market competitiveness; and critics say the change will likely benefit big meat companies, but put livestock farmers at a disadvantage in the market, since the stamp alone will be enough to influence the purchase of certain products by already predisposed shoppers.
