🇺🇲🇪🇺 The US and the EU have officially signed the long coming US-EU Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) Agreement. Hooray! But what’s that again? Once implemented, it’s an agreement that will enable the US to preserve its existing access to the EU market for various agricultural commodities following the UK’s exit from the group in 2021.

🐷 The agreement will restore favorable market access for agricultural products, including US rice, almonds, wheat, and corn. As for the pork industry, the US-specific TRQ that covers hams and loins was allocated to the UK, while the other pork TRQs are not country-specific and were apportioned between the UK and the EU.
