🚮 Your time, by reading swine o'clock, and your food too! According to the nonprofit ReFED estimates, the US generated 91 million tons of surplus food – all food that goes unsold or uneaten – in 2021 alone! 

     • This represents 38% of the total US food supply. While 80% of that was edible items, less than 2% was donated.

     • Also, that waste contributes nearly 6% of the country’s annual greenhouse gas emissions as well as uses 22% of its freshwater and 16% of cropland.

⚠️ So the bottom line is that there's still a looong way to go towards effectively reducing food waste, so it's imperative that food system stakeholders don't drop the ball – wasted food is a huge drain on the economy, the environment, and people! Read more about it here.
