A safe fall ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ˜ท This isn’t about bungee jumping safety measures, but biosecurity in the season! According to the Swine Health Information Center (SHIC) Associate Director Dr. Megan Niederwerder, there’s been an increase in some of the endemic pathogens typically considered part of the porcine respiratory disease complex over the past month.

  • Psst! Keep an eye on the PRRS, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, and Influenza A virus.

๐Ÿ” That’s to say pork producers are encouraged to step up their biosecurity this fall. Especially considering that the fall is a seasonal period of increased pork demand, but we’re still in that period when we’re only seeing an increase in respiratory diseases during wean to market – a golden opportunity for the industry to focus on that age group and security measures for it.
