The US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced an additional funding of $21.9 million, amounting to a total of $54.6 million of investment. The money is meant for projects in 37 states that will help strengthen and develop new market opportunities for meat and poultry processors throughout the country.

  • Participants are also encouraged to reach out to the Meat and Poultry Processing Capacity Technical Assistance Program (MPPTA), which connects them to a nationwide network of resources and experts
  • Small and underserved stakeholders should take advantage of the broad technical assistance offered by the MPPTA.

The Meat and Poultry Inspection Readiness Grants will help meat and poultry processors make necessary facility improvements, expand their businesses, strengthen the nation’s food supply chain, and transform the food system.

  • The goal is also to increase economic opportunities for small and midsized meat and poultry producers.
