๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ’ฐ Last week, the Senate Appropriations Committee voted to approve the Fiscal Year 2024 agriculture appropriations bill, which funds the USDA, the FDA, and dozens of other agencies related to food, agriculture, and rural development.

  • While the Senate bill provides just under $26 billion of funding (about $1 billion more than the House version), the House bill relies on clawing back $8 billion of unspent pandemic-era funds (a move that is dead on arrival). This is a disagreement that has to be settled before the funding expires. Hopefully, the new bipartisan bill will help with that, as it contemplates many priorities and continues to support rural communities. Read more about it here.
